7AM – The Ever Delayed Webseries

27 03 2013

So finally after 3 years of hard work 7AM episode 1 is finnaly on the interweb for your viewing pleasure. Going back through my initial blog posts of the webseries a lot has changed about it from day one on the 7th of Febuary 2011 to now.

For starters the story was not about banks being corrupt at all but about guardian angels saving the chosen people.

Check out some of these old blog posts through time:

So as you can see this film has been non stop delayed and you can see how about 90% of the film was finished by May 2011.

The delays were due to

  • actors bailing
  • Going on a big holiday to Europe
  • Being inspired by Europe and a film called Zeitgeist and re-writing the whole story
  • Getting very busy with film work
  • Getting a job with animal logic
  • Giving up on making it because I realised how crap it would compared to the work of my new colleagues
  • Deciding I should finish it anyway

Any way I might do a wrap up on it after I release all of them.

Tune in next Wednesday for the next episode!

7AM is well and truly back on track!

6 11 2011

So you may remember in the first quarter of the year I was working on my new miniseries 7AM and since then you haven’t really heard much about it’s progress. The truth is it’s because their hadn’t been any progress, thanks to the big interruption known as two months in Europe and then the two month interruption of editing the montage of the trip.

So now that all of that is well and truly over, I can once again get back to my baby (7AM). Since last working on it though I have massively changed the plot and script. From the middle of the series to the ending it goes down a completely different path. The new 7AM dwells into global banking politics and has a much bigger twist.

Lately I have been hard at work on one of the new scenes involving Bella falling hundreds of feet. The way i am doing it is by having Bella lying flat (or essentially planking) on a milk crate that is covered with a green screen and a green screen backdrop to have the effect of her floating.

This is before it enters After Effects

Throw a couple of VFX elements in like optical flares, camera shake and particles and bobs your uncle.

The finished product!

With the changes that have been made though, so must the budget. A lot of doctor and lab clothing is needed and some hospital locations so I am hoping that Katoomba hospital might let me shoot their. But with all this being said it also means delays, the original release date being this month, i don’t expect to have it finished until March 2012 at earliest.

So hopefully have another trailer for you guys but in the mean time stay tuned!

7 AM: New Webseries Progress Report

27 05 2011

So am about 4 months ago I began principal photography on 7AM the new webseries I am making. It is May now and I am about 3 months off completing it I reckon. I have managed to fix my previouse actor problems and have shot most of the main two naratives for the series. As you know each episode will consist of three naritives in sequential order. Firstly the point of view of the killer, then part two being the victims perspective and lastly the victims mother’s perspective 12 years earlier. The graph below demostrates the progress of the film, with the graph demonstraiting the full duration of the webseries in a timeline.

Key: Yellow = The Victims POV Blue = The Murderers POV Green = Mum’s POV

As you can see, none of the mum’s POV has been shot yet at all. I am deciding to keep till I have finished the first two parts to each episode before filming that as the Mums POV doesnt involve either of the other two main actors. However 6am and 7 am have character cross overs constantly. Thus with this method I can wrap the murderer and Victim quicker.

The only disadvantge this causes is that if I make a trailer soon it wont feature any of one of the main parts to the film. However I think that I will be releasing a very short and snappy 1 minuet Teaser Trailer in a couple of weeks so stay posted. But for now here is a couple of snaps from it you havent seen.

Episode 1 - Acid

Episode 2 - Decapitation

Episode 3 - Domination

7AM SNEAK PEAK! – A clip from my new upcoming film!

24 03 2011

So I thought I would release a very small sneak peak of my upcoming webseries 7AM, just a little (early stages) edit of bella’s awsome death.

obviously, its still in early stages and diagetic sound needs to be added but just to give you an idea on what to expect.

7AM – Production Begins! First Photo’s!

2 03 2011

So shooting has officially began for my upcoming web series ’7AM’. You can read about it’s plot in my previous post HERE.

Episode 1 has had most of the shooting completed for it, as well as several scenes from ep’s 2-4. Bella’s horrifying death scene from episode one has been shot successfully involving my first use of special effects in over two years. Prior to this in my last film The Face (2010) I moved away from sfx to a completely digital effect approach. This film will feature a combination of the two throughout.

Sometimes I take deepthroat a little too far...

New Steady Cam Rig and Lighting kit... Priceless ($500)

Mid Sequence shot of bella's throat melting

A big setback that has just occurred is “7 Year Old Bella” not wanting to be a part of the movie due to it’s graphic content. At this stage I am hoping to convince her into the role, but if any one knows any young girls that could pass as a 7 year old Bella and would be interested in participating in my film please get in contact with me.

Teaser coming soon.

7 AM: New Web-series in Production

7 02 2011

So I am in the works of putting together my new web series “7 AM”. It will span over 5 episodes, that follow a consistent multiple narrative structure each episode for the whole series.

The story Is a mesh of Final Destination (now a tradition of mine I guess) and Groundhog Day. In other words a girl dying in a different way every same day, constantly until she unravels what the fuck is actually going down.

The multiple narratives follow the stories of the daily female victim (Bella), along with her boyfriend and Bella’s mother on Bella’s 7th birthday. The narratives all come together in the final episodes to uncover the mystery.

Each episode will be three to five minuets and aired on a weekly basis. When finished I will edit it all into a single slightly trimmed piece that I will be distributing to some festivals.

This will be my highest budget flick thus far at about $1000 (not including the $1700 camera purchased for use). I am using a limited cast and set of locations to keep costs minimal. Most of the costs will be in the special effects equipment like makeup and the vehicle in use (my first car) which I will destroy if it gives out by then.

The equipment in use includes my Cannon 550D, a recently obtained tripod dolly, two flood lights, a blood and gore makeup kit, latex and liters of blood.

I am anticipating a June release as the transition between pre and post-production is only taking place now, due to some massive re-writes. Also heavy use of visual effects are planned. Including a hugely popular “slidey part” I have always dreamed of pulling off, as seen in films like Resident Evil, Underworld 2, Cube and Final Destination 2. However it is an extremely difficult effect to pull off, involving green screens, 3D modeling software and a lot of time spent compositing the hundreds of layers their are bound to be.

THIS VIDEO SHOWS WHAT I MEAN AT 1.14 mins IN

At this stage their is no help really needed on board, other then what I already have. So please don’t ask as the more people I get on board, the harder it is to organize. However saying this I am likely to be asking around later in production when needed.

I’m going to be releasing a promo by April and a trailer will hit by May, I will also be once again following the production with a rough production diary on the blog with some pictures and clips. However for now here’s a sneak peak of the constant morning our victim experiences…
